DAILY MAIL, November 2013
Whilst stars such as Sharon Osbourne and Kim Kardashian have turned to Botox for a quick anti-ageing fix, one celebrity facialist thinks she can banish wrinkles using just a stone.
Georgia Louise, who counts Emma Stone, Linda Evangelista and makeup artist Gucci Westman among her clients, has a much more natural approach to turning back the clock.
She uses a £29 rose quartz butterfly stone on her clients, which she massages across their faces two to three times per week.
Often referred to as 'the ice of the gods', rose quartz has long been used in beauty rituals across the world and is famed for its healing properties.
Georgia tells her clients to massage their face weekly with the stone and promises it can give them a more 'contoured' look and dramatically smooth fine lines and wrinkles.
Lymphatic drainage is also apparently stimulated when using the stone, detoxifying the skin and reducing puffiness in the face and around the eyes.
The stone can also be used for relieving stress in the facial muscles, which seem to accumulate tension as we age.
Massaging stiff facial muscles around the jaw, cheeks and forehead can be very therapeutic and helps relax and lift the face, claims Georgia.
Georgia tells her clients to place this little butterfly stone under their pillow at night to help enhance their relationship and improve sleep.
But does this peculiar anti-ageing trick really work?
Dr Yannis of 111 Harley Street, isn't so sure.
He said: 'Massage stones can be used to heighten a facial experience, however they will not provide a lifting or sculpting result that can be achieved with clinically proven non-surgical treatments.
'Used during a facial massage, holistic healing stones can be worked into a therapist’s technique for lymphatic drainage or even applied to pressure points to "relieve" stress.
'A visibly lifted skin cannot be achieved in this way, the results felt will certainly be relaxing but are more psychological than clinical.'
